The Philippine election on May 17, 2010 is the first nationwide automated election in the Philippines.  Most national and local elective posts are included, including the President, Vice President, 12 Senators, congressmen, governors, vice-governors, board members, mayors, vice mayors and councilors.

Election season in the Philippines has just begun, and nearly one hundred candidates have registered to run in next year's presidential derby. Eliminate the no-hopers and cranks and it is shaping up to be a five-cornered race, with a clutch of serious contenders as outside bets.
